Same kVA does not mean the same current
- Illustration only: a three-phase 100kVA rating at 400V corresponds to about 144A using 100,000 divided by 1.732 and 400.
- At a different voltage, the rated-current calculation changes. Always identify the side of the transformer being discussed.
- These are example values, not a selected transformer or a safe current setting for your installation.
- Do not use this arithmetic to choose a breaker, cable, overload setting, or replacement unit. Those need the full design.
