Single Phase Motor Protection Device Comparison

VUKAR makes twelve single phase motor protection devices across three families: digital meters (the DM-SP series), digital auto switches (the DEV-K series) and automatic water level controllers (the DEV-H series). Every model includes VUKAR motor safety, an inbuilt auto switch, a cyclic timer and an auto off / stop timer, so the table below shows only what actually differs between models. Any model with a water level controller also includes a water level indicator.

These are the control units on their own. If you want a complete ready-made panel instead, see the motor starter panel pricelist and comparison.

Quick answer: which single phase motor protection device do you need?

  • You have an overhead tank and want the pump to start and stop by itself — choose a DEV-H water level controller, or a digital meter with LLC or RTLC in the code. All of these show the tank level as well as acting on it.
  • Borewell pump with a tank — choose DEV-H1 or DEV-H3. Both ship with a single float switch.
  • Openwell or monoblock pump with a tank — choose DEV-H2 or DEV-H4. Both ship with a double float switch.
  • You want a stated current rating for a heavy duty install — choose a DEV-K auto switch. DEV-K1 and DEV-K3 cover 1 to 35 A; DEV-K2 and DEV-K4 cover 5 to 200 A.
  • You want the pump to run at fixed times of day — choose any model with a clock timer: DEV-K3, DEV-K4, DEV-H3, DEV-H4, DM-SP-CCCT-96 or DM-SP-RTLC-96.
  • You want a panel-mounting device with a display — choose the DM-SP series.

A dash means the product page does not state that specification — only the DEV-K models publish a current rating, and only the DEV-H models state that a cable float switch is included. Motor safety, the inbuilt auto switch, the cyclic timer, the auto off / stop timer, the power on auto start timer, the overload safety lockout, the programmable auto-restart dry run timer and the timer with power failure recovery are standard on all twelve models, so they are not shown as columns. No single phase device on this page includes an MCB.

How the model codes work

DM-SP is the single phase digital meter range: CYC is the base model, LLC adds the water level controller and indicator, CCCT adds the clock timer, and RTLC has both. DEV-K is the heavy duty single phase auto switch range: 1 and 3 cover 1 to 35 A, 2 and 4 cover 5 to 200 A, and 3 and 4 add the clock timer. DEV-H is the single phase water level controller range: 1 and 3 are borewell models with a single float switch, 2 and 4 are openwell and monoblock models with a double float switch, and 3 and 4 add the clock timer.

Frequently asked questions

Which VUKAR single phase devices include a water level controller?

Six models: DEV-H1, DEV-H2, DEV-H3, DEV-H4, DM-SP-LLC-96 and DM-SP-RTLC-96. All six also include a water level indicator.

Which VUKAR single phase devices include a clock timer?

Six models: DEV-K3, DEV-K4, DEV-H3, DEV-H4, DM-SP-CCCT-96 and DM-SP-RTLC-96.

What is the difference between a digital meter, an auto switch and a water level controller?

A DM-SP digital meter is the panel-mounting unit with a display. A DEV-K auto switch is the heavy duty standalone unit with a stated current rating. A DEV-H water level controller starts and stops the pump from the tank level and ships with a cable float switch. All three families include motor safety, an inbuilt auto switch and a cyclic timer.

Which single phase devices have a stated current rating?

Only the DEV-K auto switches: DEV-K1 and DEV-K3 at 1 to 35 A, DEV-K2 and DEV-K4 at 5 to 200 A. VUKAR does not publish a current rating or HP range for the DM-SP meters or the DEV-H water level controllers.

Is a float switch included?

The four DEV-H models state that a cable float switch is included — single on DEV-H1 and DEV-H3, double on DEV-H2 and DEV-H4. The DM-SP meters and DEV-K auto switches do not state that a float switch is included.

Do all VUKAR single phase motor protection devices have a cyclic timer?

Yes. Motor safety, the inbuilt auto switch, the cyclic timer and the auto off / stop timer are standard on every digital meter, auto switch and water level controller on this page, so they are not a reason to pick one model over another.

What is the three phase version of this range?

The DM-TP meters, the DEV-P and DEV-N auto switches and the DEV-G water level controllers. See the three phase motor protection device comparison.

What is the difference between these devices and a VUKAR starter panel?

The products on this page are sold as control units on their own. A VUKAR starter panel is a complete ready-to-install panel. If you want a complete single phase panel, see the single phase borewell starter panel comparison.
