Water Leakage & Tank Overflow Cost Calculator

For households, plumbers and maintenance teams: convert an observed leak or tank overflow into estimated water loss and user-entered variable cost.

Step 1

Describe the water loss

Source
How did you measure it?

Use a measured, manufacturer-provided, or otherwise verified rate. The calculator does not verify this value.

Occurrence and recurrence

Planning calendar: 30 days/month × 12 months = 360 days/year.

Cost basis
/kL

Variable usage charge only; zero is accepted.

Step 2

Your estimate

Estimate water loss and cost

Enter your observed measurement, recurrence and your own cost basis.

Formula and planning convention

Flow = observed volume ÷ observed time. Event loss = flow × active duration. Monthly loss = event loss × events/active day × active days. Annual loss = monthly loss × 12. This is a 30-day month and 360-day planning year.

Worked example

At 10 L/min for 5 minutes, twice daily for 30 days, loss is 3,000 L (3 kL) per month. At ₹30/kL, proportional variable cost is ₹90.

Cost exclusions

Excludes slab billing, fixed and sewer charges, taxes, penalties, repair cost, damage, electricity and minimum tanker orders.
