How the calculation works

Annual operating hours = hours/day × days/year. Annual energy is scaled from the entered reference hours, or calculated from comparable measured average power. Payback uses only positive purchase premium and running-cost saving.

Important limits

Star rating alone is not enough. Compare exact models on the same basis. Climate, setpoint, installation, maintenance, tariff changes and finance costs are not modelled.

Use this calculator to compare the estimated electricity cost of a 3-Star AC and a 5-Star AC, then check whether the higher purchase price may recover through energy savings.

Use comparable AC data

Compare models of the same tonnage and similar cooling capacity. Enter each model's annual energy-consumption value from its current energy label, your expected annual use, electricity tariff and the actual price difference. Do not substitute a marketing claim for label data.

Read the result correctly

The calculator estimates annual cost difference and simple payback from your inputs. A 5-Star rating does not automatically make every purchase cheaper overall: usage hours, room load, inverter behaviour, tariff, maintenance and purchase price affect the outcome.

Before buying

Verify the label year, model number, cooling capacity, warranty and installation cost on the seller's documents. Use the result to shortlist comparable models; confirm room sizing and actual commercial terms separately. Estimates are not an electricity-bill guarantee.
