The pump you need depends on your borewell, water level and required water flow. Before paying, check the exact model and what comes with it. A pump price and the full installed cost can be quite different.

1 HP submersible pump price list: official examples

Prices checked: 31 October 2026. All three official pages showed tax-inclusive amounts. MRP means Maximum Retail Price. It is different from a seller's discounted price.

What comes in the box? Kirloskar states one pump and one motor for the listed model. Both Crompton pages list “1 Pump”. Ask the seller to confirm any starter, cable and other supplied parts.

Use these figures as dated reference points. A discounted selling price and an MRP are not a like-for-like price comparison. These models also have different specifications. Why do two 1 HP pumps have different prices?

“1 HP” tells you the motor's power rating. It does not tell you how much water the pump will give at your tank.

• Pump design: a narrow borewell pump and an openwell submersible pump serve different installations.
• Water lift and flow: two models can move different amounts of water at the same height.
• Model and build: pump size, stages and specified materials can change the cost. More stages alone do not make a pump the better choice.
• What is supplied: a quote may include a starter, cable or fittings. Another quote may leave them out.
• Seller terms: check the bill, written warranty, delivery and local service route.

What is the total cost of a 1 HP pump installation?

Ask for one itemised quote. It should separate these costs:

Check these details before choosing the pump

1. Borewell size: check the clear inside diameter and the space the exact pump needs.
2. Water level while pumping: use the water level when the pump is running. The full borewell depth alone does not tell you the required lift.

4. Water needed: ask the seller to show the water flow at your required head on the model's pump curve. A maximum-height number alone will not answer this.
5. Supply and water conditions: confirm the required phase, voltage, water quality and operating limits from the model's instructions.

Have a qualified pump installer check the final choice, cable, protection, earthing and installation. A price list cannot replace those checks.

Start with the model code, not the brand name alone. Ask each seller for the price, water flow at your required head, included parts and written warranty. Check who will handle service near your site.

What about the electricity bill?

Use the pump's measured electrical input or suitable manufacturer data. Do not treat the 1 HP output rating as its exact electricity use.

For example, if measured input is 1.0 kW, use is 2 hours a day and energy costs ₹8 per unit, the energy charge is 1.0 × 2 × 30 × ₹8 = ₹480 for 30 days. Does the listed pump price include a starter?

Check the package list and quote. The Kirloskar example above states one pump and one motor. The two Crompton pages state “1 Pump”. Neither description confirms that a starter, long cable, pipework or installation is included.

Can a 1 HP pump work in any borewell?

No. Borewell size, working water level, required flow and supply must suit the exact model. Two 1 HP pumps can have very different uses.

Should I compare a borewell pump with an openwell pump?

Compare pumps for the same type of installation. The three price examples in this guide are borewell models. An openwell or surface-pump price is a different comparison.

How long will a 1 HP submersible pump last?

Does copper winding guarantee a better pump?

No. Check the declared winding material along with rated efficiency, insulation and operating limits. A material name alone does not prove longer life or protection from every fault.
