Daily Irrigation for Fruit Farms: BOM-T or TPM-T?

Mohit Vekaria

For a fruit farm that needs planned daily pump operation, VUKAR BOM-T is the single-phase borewell/openwell candidate and TPM-T is the three-phase DOL candidate. First define whether “daily fixed water” means a clock window, a total running duration or a measured water quantity. Those are not the same requirement.

Manual irrigation starts, stops and power interruptions

When daily irrigation relies on manual switching, a missed start or late stop changes the intended routine. Uncertain power availability adds another question: after an interruption, should pumping finish later, or must it stay inside the original window?

A local timer starter can reduce routine switching visits. It does not decide how much water a crop needs. That decision still depends on the orchard, soil, irrigation system, weather and professional irrigation advice.

Clock time and daily runtime need different checks

A clock window defines when pumping may occur. A daily-runtime target defines how long pumping should accumulate. A request for a fixed volume needs reliable flow information or a separately verified volume-control arrangement.

Do not assume that a 30-minute run always delivers the same quantity. Source level, flow, pressure, filter condition and the active irrigation zone can change the result. Use runtime as a repeatable operating instruction, not proof that every tree received its requirement.

What TPM-T does after a power cut

Mohit Vekaria confirms that TPM-T resumes the remaining daily runtime after a power cut. After completing the daily target, it stops until the next day.

For illustration only, a 30-minute target with 10 minutes completed leaves 20 minutes after restoration. This is not a recommended orchard duration. If completion must also stay within a nighttime or supply window, confirm that combined rule separately.

BOM-T is the confirmed single-phase model mapping for this application. Its exact daily-runtime memory and outage-recovery sequence should be checked; the TPM-T behaviour should not be copied across by assumption.

Match the panel to the irrigation arrangement

Use a compatible complete starter panel, selected for motor phase, nameplate current, starting circuit and actual duty. Built-in motor protection needs correct configuration; it does not replace irrigation filters, pressure management or source-water checks.

One pump timer does not automatically sequence several valves or blocks. If different orchard sections need different runs, specify how zones open, how the pump receives permission and what happens if water cannot flow.

When this approach fits

It fits a farm with a known pump operating plan and a compatible motor. It is incomplete where the requirement is automatic soil-moisture response, weather adjustment, measured volume or multi-zone management without additional supported controls.

Commission the intended schedule and power-return behaviour. Then compare observed water delivery with the farm's plan. The useful benefit is more consistent execution of that plan, not a guaranteed increase in yield.
