Chiller Feed Tank Running Empty? Control the Refill Pump by Level
Mohit Vekariaशेयर करना
If a chiller's feed tank runs empty because refilling depends on someone remembering the pump, assess level-based refill control. The starter panel's task is to operate the compatible refill pump. It should not be assumed to control the compressor, water temperature or the whole chiller.
Why this is more than a missed switch
Mohit Vekaria identifies an empty chiller tank as a situation that can interrupt work and potentially cause business loss. That impact belongs in this application because water availability can affect the service being delivered.
The scale of the loss depends on the actual process. Without site records, there is no basis for a money figure or a promise that one panel eliminates downtime.
Define the refill sequence
The functional requirement is to request refilling at a suitable low level and stop at the configured full level, subject to source availability and protection conditions.
Set those levels from the tank's working capacity, refill rate and process demand. A timer alone cannot see a changing tank level. If consumption varies, a fixed run duration may not maintain the intended reserve.
If the source can run low, specify the required source-water input or supported protection separately. Confirm the exact model's sensor arrangement rather than assuming every level panel monitors both tanks.
Which VUKAR panels may fit?
For a compatible single-phase monoblock refill pump, assess MOA level-control panels; for an openwell pump, assess OPA. For a compatible three-phase openwell/monoblock pump, assess TPA-O/TPO-H/TPO-T variants.
Selection remains conditional on the actual motor and sensing logic. Record phase, current, starting arrangement, required float or sensor and the exact model revision. Prioritize the complete starter panel when a suitable refill starter is needed.
Separate refilling from chiller protection
The chiller may require its own minimum-level, flow, temperature or other permissive signals. A refill starter is not proof that those interlocks exist or work.
Check the manufacturer's water-system requirements before introducing makeup water or altering a closed-loop arrangement. If the real problem is a leak, blocked flow or a failed process interlock, automatic refilling is not a complete repair.
What to verify before handover
Test low-level refill demand, full-level stop, source-low response where supported and behaviour after power returns. Confirm how low reserve or failed refill is noticed if that could interrupt the process.
The expected operational benefit is fewer missed manual refill actions and better maintenance of the planned tank level. Continued operation still depends on water supply, power, pump health, sensing and the chiller's own controls.
