Three Phase Motor Protection Device Comparison
VUKAR makes eleven three phase motor protection devices across three families: digital meters (the DM-TP series), digital auto switches (DEV-P1, DEV-P2 and DEV-N) and automatic water level controllers (the DEV-G series). Every model includes VUKAR motor safety, a single phase preventer, a phase sequence detector and a cyclic timer, so the table below shows only what actually differs between models. Any model with a water level controller also includes a water level indicator.
These are the control units on their own. If you want a complete ready-made panel instead, see the three phase DOL starter panel comparison.
Quick answer: which three phase motor protection device do you need?
- You have an overhead tank and want the pump to start and stop by itself — choose a DEV-G water level controller, or a digital meter with LLC or RTLC in the code. All of these show the tank level as well as acting on it.
- Borewell pump with a tank — choose DEV-G1 or DEV-G3. Both ship with a single float switch.
- Openwell or monoblock pump with a tank — choose DEV-G2 or DEV-G4. Both ship with a double float switch.
- You want a stated HP range — choose an auto switch. DEV-N, DEV-P1 and DEV-P2 are all listed for 2 HP to 100 HP.
- You want the pump to run at fixed times of day — choose any model with a clock timer: DEV-P2, DEV-G3, DEV-G4, DM-TP-CCCT-96 or DM-TP-RTLC-96.
- You want a panel-mounting device with a display — choose the DM-TP series.

A dash means the product page does not state that specification — only the auto switches publish an HP range, and only the DEV-G models state that a cable float switch is included. Motor safety, the single phase preventer, the phase sequence detector, the inbuilt auto switch and the cyclic timer are listed on all eleven models, so they are not shown as columns. No three phase device on this page includes an MCB.
How the model codes work
DM-TP is the three phase digital meter range: CYC is the base model, LLC adds the water level controller and indicator, CCCT adds the clock timer, and RTLC has both. DEV-P is the current three phase auto switch range, with P2 adding the clock timer, and DEV-N is listed separately. DEV-G is the three phase water level controller range: 1 and 3 are borewell models with a single float switch, 2 and 4 are openwell and monoblock models with a double float switch, and 3 and 4 add the clock timer.
Frequently asked questions
Which VUKAR three phase devices include a water level controller?
Six models: DEV-G1, DEV-G2, DEV-G3, DEV-G4, DM-TP-LLC-96 and DM-TP-RTLC-96. All six also include a water level indicator.
Which VUKAR three phase devices include a clock timer?
Five models: DEV-P2, DEV-G3, DEV-G4, DM-TP-CCCT-96 and DM-TP-RTLC-96.
Do all VUKAR three phase motor protection devices include a single phase preventer?
Yes. All eleven models list a single phase preventer and a phase sequence detector, so it is not a reason to pick one model over another.
What is the difference between a digital meter, an auto switch and a water level controller?
A DM-TP digital meter is the panel-mounting unit with a display. A DEV-P or DEV-N auto switch is the standalone unit with a stated HP range. A DEV-G water level controller starts and stops the pump from the tank level and ships with a cable float switch. All three families include motor safety, a single phase preventer, a phase sequence detector and a cyclic timer.
Which three phase devices have a stated HP range?
Only the auto switches: DEV-N, DEV-P1 and DEV-P2 are all listed for 2 HP to 100 HP. VUKAR does not publish an HP range or current rating for the DM-TP meters or the DEV-G water level controllers.
Is a float switch included?
The four DEV-G models state that a cable float switch is included — single on DEV-G1 and DEV-G3, double on DEV-G2 and DEV-G4. The DM-TP meters and the DEV-P and DEV-N auto switches do not state that a float switch is included.
What is the single phase version of this range?
The DM-SP meters, the DEV-K auto switches and the DEV-H water level controllers. See the single phase motor protection device comparison.
What is the difference between these devices and a VUKAR starter panel?
The products on this page are sold as control units on their own. A VUKAR starter panel is a complete ready-to-install panel. If you want a complete three phase panel, see the three phase DOL starter panel comparison.
