Three Phase Water Level Controller Comparison

VUKAR makes four three phase automatic water level controller models, all in the DEV-G series. Every model includes a water level controller, a water level indicator, VUKAR motor safety, a single phase preventer and phase sequence detector, a cyclic timer and an auto off / stop timer, and every model ships with a cable float switch. What actually differs between the four is the pump type, the float switch, and whether the model adds a clock timer with advanced scheduling. The table below shows only those differences.

These are the control units on their own. If you want a complete ready-made panel instead, see the three phase DOL starter panel comparison.

Quick answer: which three phase water level controller do you need?

  • Borewell pump with an overhead tank — choose DEV-G1, or DEV-G3 if you also want a clock timer. Both come with a single float switch.
  • Openwell or monoblock pump with an overhead tank — choose DEV-G2, or DEV-G4 if you also want a clock timer. Both come with a double float switch.
  • You want the pump to run at fixed times of day — choose DEV-G3 or DEV-G4. These add a clock timer and a digital clock display.
  • You need complex daily or weekly schedules — choose DEV-G3 or DEV-G4. Only these two add the multi-event real-time scheduler (up to 20 programs), the hierarchical timer, total daily runtime control and user settable operating hours.

Model Pump type Float Switch Clock Timer Digital Clock Display Multi-Event / Hierarchical Scheduler Total Daily Runtime Control
DEV-G1 Borewell Single No No No No
DEV-G2 Openwell / Monoblock Double No No No No
DEV-G3 Borewell Single Yes Yes Yes Yes
DEV-G4 Openwell / Monoblock Double Yes Yes Yes Yes

The water level controller, water level indicator, motor safety, single phase preventer and phase sequence detector, cyclic timer, auto off / stop timer, power on auto start timer, overload safety lockout, programmable auto-restart dry run timer, timer with power failure recovery and the included cable float switch are standard on all four models, so they are not shown as columns. VUKAR does not publish a current rating or an HP range for the DEV-G series, and no DEV-G model includes an MCB, so those are not shown either.

How the model codes work

DEV-G is the three phase automatic water level controller range. Within it, 1 and 3 are the borewell models with a single float switch, and 2 and 4 are the openwell and monoblock models with a double float switch. 3 and 4 add the clock timer and the advanced scheduling features. The single phase equivalent is the DEV-H series, which maps number for number.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between DEV-G1, DEV-G2, DEV-G3 and DEV-G4?

DEV-G1 is the borewell model with a single float switch and a cyclic timer. DEV-G2 is the openwell and monoblock model with a double float switch and a cyclic timer. DEV-G3 is DEV-G1 plus a clock timer and advanced scheduling. DEV-G4 is DEV-G2 plus a clock timer and advanced scheduling.

Should I choose a single or double float switch?

VUKAR pairs a single float switch with the borewell models (DEV-G1 and DEV-G3) and a double float switch with the openwell and monoblock models (DEV-G2 and DEV-G4). Pick by pump type and the float switch follows.

Do all VUKAR three phase water level controllers include a single phase preventer?

Yes. All four DEV-G models list a single phase preventer and phase sequence detector, so it is not a reason to pick one model over another.

Do the DEV-G models also show the water level?

Yes. All four include a water level indicator as well as the water level controller, so they display the tank level and act on it.

Which DEV-G models have a clock timer?

Two models: DEV-G3 and DEV-G4. Both also add a digital clock display, the multi-event real-time scheduler with up to 20 programs, the hierarchical timer, total daily runtime control and user settable operating hours for the water level controller and the cyclic timer.

What motor protection do the DEV-G models have?

All four list overvoltage and undervoltage protection, overload and dry run protection, a single phase preventer and phase sequence detector, an overload safety lockout that requires a manual reset, and a programmable auto-restart dry run timer.

What HP range does the DEV-G series cover?

VUKAR does not publish an HP range or a current rating for the DEV-G models. If you need a stated HP range, the three phase DEV-P and DEV-N auto switches are listed for 2 HP to 100 HP — see the three phase digital auto switch comparison.

What is the difference between DEV-G and DEV-H?

DEV-G is the three phase range and DEV-H is the single phase range. The DEV-G models add a single phase preventer and phase sequence detector, which the single phase DEV-H models do not have. See the single phase water level controller comparison.

What is the difference between these devices and a VUKAR starter panel?

The products on this page are sold as control units on their own. A VUKAR starter panel is a complete ready-to-install panel. If you want a complete three phase panel with a water level controller built in, see the three phase DOL starter panel comparison.
