Single Phase Digital Auto Switch Comparison

VUKAR makes four single phase digital auto switch models, all in the DEV-K series and all listed as heavy duty builds. Every model includes an inbuilt auto switch, VUKAR motor safety, a cyclic timer and an auto off / stop timer. What actually differs between the four is the current rating and whether the model adds a clock timer with advanced scheduling. The table below shows only those differences.

None of the DEV-K auto switches include a water level controller. If you need automatic tank control, use a DEV-H single phase water level controller, or a DM-SP digital meter with LLC or RTLC in the code.

Quick answer: which single phase digital auto switch do you need?

  • Smaller motor, 1 to 35 A — choose DEV-K1, or DEV-K3 if you also want a clock timer.
  • Larger motor, 5 to 200 A — choose DEV-K2, or DEV-K4 if you also want a clock timer.
  • You want the pump to restart on its own when power returns — any of the four. The inbuilt auto switch and power on auto start timer are standard across the range.
  • You want the pump to run at fixed times of day — choose DEV-K3 or DEV-K4. These add a clock timer and a digital clock display.
  • You need complex daily or weekly schedules — choose DEV-K3 or DEV-K4. Only these two add the multi-event real-time scheduler (up to 20 programs), the hierarchical timer, total daily runtime control and user settable operating hours for the cyclic timer.

Comparison table: all single phase digital auto switch models

Model Build Current rating Clock Timer Digital Clock Display Multi-Event / Hierarchical Scheduler Total Daily Runtime Control
DEV-K1 Heavy duty 1–35 A No No No No
DEV-K2 Heavy duty 5–200 A No No No No
DEV-K3 Heavy duty 1–35 A Yes Yes Yes Yes
DEV-K4 Heavy duty 5–200 A Yes Yes Yes Yes

The inbuilt auto switch, motor safety, cyclic timer, auto off / stop timer, power on auto start timer, overload safety lockout, auto adjustable starting torque timer, programmable auto-restart dry run timer, timer with power failure recovery, motor fault counter and total run time counter are standard on all four models, so they are not shown as columns. No DEV-K model has a water level controller, a water level indicator, a float switch or an MCB.

How the model codes work

DEV-K is the heavy duty single phase digital auto switch range. Within it, 1 and 3 cover 1 to 35 A, and 2 and 4 cover 5 to 200 A. 3 and 4 add the clock timer and the advanced scheduling features. The three phase equivalent is the DEV-P and DEV-N range.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between DEV-K1, DEV-K2, DEV-K3 and DEV-K4?

DEV-K1 is rated 1 to 35 A with a cyclic timer. DEV-K2 is the same but rated 5 to 200 A. DEV-K3 is DEV-K1 plus a clock timer and advanced scheduling. DEV-K4 is DEV-K2 plus a clock timer and advanced scheduling.

What current rating do the VUKAR single phase auto switches cover?

Two ratings. DEV-K1 and DEV-K3 are listed for 1 to 35 A. DEV-K2 and DEV-K4 are listed for 5 to 200 A.

Do the DEV-K auto switches include a water level controller?

No. None of the four DEV-K models has a water level controller or a water level indicator. For automatic tank control, use a DEV-H single phase water level controller, or a DM-SP digital meter with LLC or RTLC in the code.

Which DEV-K models have a clock timer?

Two models: DEV-K3 and DEV-K4. Both also add a digital clock display, the multi-event real-time scheduler with up to 20 programs, the hierarchical timer, total daily runtime control and user settable operating hours for the cyclic timer.

Are all VUKAR single phase auto switches heavy duty?

Yes. All four DEV-K models are listed as heavy duty single phase digital auto switches.

What motor protection do the DEV-K models have?

All four list overvoltage and undervoltage protection, overload and dry run protection, an overload safety lockout that requires a manual reset, and a programmable auto-restart dry run timer. All four also log faults with a motor fault counter and a total run time counter.

Do the DEV-K models restart the pump when power returns?

Yes. All four include an inbuilt auto switch and a power on auto start timer, which delays the restart after power is restored, plus a timer with power failure recovery so a running schedule continues where it left off.

What is the three phase version of DEV-K?

The DEV-P series and DEV-N, all listed for 2 HP to 100 HP. See the three phase digital auto switch comparison.

What is the difference between these devices and a VUKAR starter panel?

The products on this page are sold as control units on their own. A VUKAR starter panel is a complete ready-to-install panel. If you want a complete single phase panel, see the single phase borewell starter panel comparison.
