Nighttime Irrigation: Keep Pumping Inside the Allowed Hours
Mohit VekariaShare
If irrigation must happen only at night or during agreed supply hours, specify a permitted clock window. A daily runtime target alone does not prove that pumping stays within that window. VUKAR BOM-T and TPM-T are relevant clock-panel candidates for compatible single- and three-phase motors, but the combined rules need confirmation.
The distinction that changes the recommendation
“Run for 30 minutes each day” defines a duration. “Run only during the agreed night hours” defines permission. A farm may need both, and an outage can make them conflict.
The operational problem is clear: manual starts or auto-start-on-power-return can occur outside the intended period unless the control arrangement enforces the restriction. That may leave a person waiting at night to operate the pump or checking whether it stopped on time.
Write what should happen at the end of the window
Ask whether the pump must stop when the allowed period ends even if the daily target is unfinished. Decide whether that unfinished time is discarded, carried forward or handled another way.
These are required behaviours to verify, not established features of every clock timer. A schedule crossing midnight also needs a clearly documented sequence.
Where TPM-T's confirmed recovery fits
Mohit Vekaria confirms that TPM-T resumes remaining daily runtime after a power cut and, after the target is complete, stops until the next day.
That confirms the daily-time accounting described in the garden guide. It does not, by itself, confirm priority between that remaining time and a separate restricted clock window. Do not claim “it will always finish tonight” or “it can never run outside the window” without verifying that interaction.
For BOM-T, confirm the exact recovery sequence separately. A shared clock-timer label does not establish identical memory behaviour.
Select the motor-compatible panel
BOM-T is the single-phase borewell/openwell candidate; TPM-T is the three-phase DOL candidate. Match the actual motor, current range, start circuit and ordered variant. For another pump arrangement, assess the relevant clock family rather than assuming all single-phase panels are interchangeable.
The panel's supported motor protection remains part of the selection. A clock schedule does not establish source water, delivered flow or suitable watering for the crop.
Demonstrate the difficult cases
During commissioning, test a normal overnight run, power loss during a run, restoration inside and outside the permitted period, and the end of the window with time remaining. Use the documented sequence and record the result.
A local clock panel may remove routine nighttime switching visits. If the strict window cannot be verified, the proposed arrangement is incomplete for this requirement, even if it provides useful daily timing in another application.
